Mission and Justice Ministry Team

This ministry team seeks a more peaceful and just world by developing a Christian awareness of issues such as poverty, injustice, and the environment. Through actions of advocacy, social action, and missions, the team responds to local, national, and global challenges and crises.

It seeks to relate BCCUCC to other organizations having similar aims. In the past it has hosted informational meetings at the church, bringing in outside speakers on a variety of different justice and environmental issues.

On-going projects include:

  • Sponsors Thanksgiving and year round collections for Tap-In, our local food pantry
  • Christmas collections of gifts for those in need including the Mitten Tree, and Giving Tree
  • BCCUCC is a “5 for 5” church, meaning we participate in all four of the national UCC offerings, in addition to financially supporting our local conference. Offerings are “One Great Hour of Sharing”, “Neighbors in Need”, “The Christmas Fund”, and “Strengthen the Church.” (Link)

The M&J team also makes monetary contributions to various mission organizations. Recent donations have been to Loaves and Fishes RI;  Dorcas International

We also welcome new ideas for issues, projects and activities for the team to become involved with. If you’d like to discuss ways to become involved, please contact the church office to be put in touch with the current chair of the team.
