BCCUCC Runs in the Tough Tiger! (Updated w/ more pics!!)

What a blast!!

The BCC- Miracle Mudders ran last Sunday at the Tough Tiger event supporting Hampden Meadows School. We had fun. We laughed. We supported some of our kids. And we raised funds for the Hampden Meadows PTO. What more could you ask for?

I also know there are more pictures out there, particularly an “after” shot of us all in our muddy or wet glory. If you have more pics, pass them on to Dale.

Special thanks to all our runners this year. Thanks for coming out and supporting the church, our kids, and the community!

Meditation Options at BCCUCC

Mindful Mondays

Started during Lent 2018, Mindful Mondays are continuing every Monday evening from 7 – 8 pm in the Meditation Room.

Led by our Associate Minister, the Rev. Brendan Curran, the hour consists of a 20-25 minute guided meditation, a contemplative reading or poem, followed by tea and discussion.  These sessions are designed to be inclusive for people of all faiths and will be open to the public.  The meditations offered will help us cultivate stillness in our lives and ways of releasing stress, as well as a way of deepening our awareness […]

A Special Weekend with Our Friends at Temple Habonim

Embracing & Sharing Beloved Community

A Dialogue/Conversation
between
Rev. Dr. Dale Azevedo & Rabbi Andrew Klein

Barrington Congregational Church and Temple Habonim share a long history of being good neighbors, welcoming each other into our respective houses of worship, and appreciating the differences between us.

Our two communities of faith gathered twice over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend to celebrate his vision of beloved community and explore ways that we can keep his dream alive during these challenging times. We celebrated a Shabbat service at Temple Habbonim on Friday evening […]

Pictures from Our 300th Anniversary Celebration!

On Sunday, November 12th, we were blessed to wrap up our year long celebration of our 300th Anniversary. In worship we were joined by many of our past clergy (senior, associate, and interim ministers) and a sanctuary full of present members. Up in the chancel we had on display our newly refurbished weather vane, set to soon replace the broken one which stood in the same place in chancel a year ago marking the start of our year long jubilee.

Meanwhile, a hearty crew of our 300th Anniversary Team was setting […]

Support Our New Meditation Room

We are converting room 8 into a meditation room! As a part of his ministry plan this year, Brendan will be leading mediation classes at the church. Our goal is to have this room up and running by the start of Lent at the latest. However, Brendan will host ongoing classes throughout the year. And don’t worry, we can still use this space for our Sunday School classes (or other groups that want a quiet restful place to meet) as well!! However, we need your help. To truly create a meditation […]

Resources for Working Through the Aftermath of Las Vegas

It is difficult for all of us to make sense of a lot of the violence around us and around the world. It is especially difficult with the seemingly senseless mass killings we experience increasingly in this country. Sometimes we aren’t sure how to talk about it with our children and youth. We wanted to include a few resources here that may help you or people you know talk about or pray about this tragedy. (Additional resources are also cited as sources in the link provided.

For working with teens and youth: Fuller Youth Institute.

For working with children:

Pictures from Mt. Monadnock

We had beautiful weather for our 2nd annual church hike up Mt. Monadnock! Members from our Junior and Senior Youth groups with adventurous nature lovers from our congregation enjoyed the adventure together on Sept. 23rd. We enjoyed laughs and fun and despite a few trials during the semi-arduous climb, we made it up and down the mountain together. Some of us reported being a bit sore in church the next day but said the beautiful views we enjoyed at the top of the mountain made it worth it. We only had one cliffhanger moment! Come and enjoy the hike […]

Have breakfast. Help a neighbor!

On September 24th, BCCUCC is eating breakfast at Mathewson Street Church in Providence. You may not know it, but Mathewson Street feeds between 250 and 300 people every Sunday. They do this for those who are homeless or food insecure at no charge! All they ask from us is that we show up, eat a wonderful breakfast of eggs, sausage, fruit, pancakes, waffles, and soup with their attendees. Then, when we are through, to pay for our meal with a donation as if we ate at a restaurant. The excess from our “donations” helps pay for the meals of the […]

Programs for our children and youth

The 2017-2018 Guide to Christian Education and Youth Ministry at BCCUCC  has been published and we encourage everyone – especially parents – to read all about the exciting programs being offered for children and youth.

As you read the guide you’ll see that there’s something for every age from infants in the nursery to high school youth. Click on the link above or click here to read it.

Church School Registration

Our Safe Church Guidelines require that all children and youth be registered each year to participate in Church School, Youth Groups, Confirmation, OWL, Mission Trip, or any other programs.
If you registered your […]

Hurricane Harvey Relief

Detroit Metro Area 2014 Floods CWS Buckets

The greater Houston area needs our help! During coffee hour on Homecoming Sunday (Sept. 10th), we will assemble disaster clean-up buckets, bless them, and send them off to Church World Service. There has been a special call for these buckets as they are essential to the clean-up effort.

There are two ways you can support in this effort.

Each bucket costs $75.00 (the cost of supplies that go in the bucket).  Any individual, family, or group is welcome to […]

Summer Worship Series July 23-Aug 20!!

One of the most dynamic stories in scripture is the story of Jacob. Starting on July 23, we’ll take five weeks and walk with Jacob through his life and faith. We’ll see him grow up, get in trouble, get married, get in trouble (again!), and eventually come home. If the weather is nice (not too hot, not too wet) we might even worship out on the terrace or at the riverbank. Come and join us for this fun and family friendly worship series!
