Hygiene Items needed for Confirmation Service Project

On Saturday, March 7th the Confirmands will be participating in a Community Service Day putting together Hygiene Kits for Church World Services. CWS provides these kits to people affected by natural disasters in our country. For individuals affected by tornadoes, flooding, and other natural disasters, these kits are a welcome gift providing them with hygiene essentials. Last year, CWS actually ran out of kits while responding to devasting spring flooding.

Mardi Gras Pancake Fundraiser – Mission Trip | February 23, 2020

You are invited to kick off the season of Lent and support the mission trip with a Fat-Tuesday Mardi Gras Pancake Breakfast!

After worship on Sunday, February 23rd the CEYM team, with support from the mission trip participants, will serve pancakes during coffee hour. This festive pancake breakfast is a fundraiser for the mission trip to Puerto Rico. Congregation members and friends are asked to donate generously. Look for a collection basket for donations in Fellowship Hall.

Loaves and Fishes RI Ministry | February 26

On Wednesday, February 26th, volunteers from our church will be going to Trinity Methodist Church and Emmanuel House in Providence to provide nourishment to those in need. Donations of specific food and clothing items are needed – check the online sign-up sheet here and sign up if you can help.

Prep starts in the kitchen at 4pm to prepare the food and start loading up.

Valentine Cocoa Cafe | February 9, 2020

On Sunday, February 9th, the Puerto Rico mission trip participants will be hosting a Valentine Cocoa Cafe. Anyone who is able is encouraged to bring a baked good to church that can be sold, and purchase something that someone else made.

In addition to our yummy home-made baked goods, we will be selling warm cocoa with whipped cream and your choice of topping(s), both of which will be set up in Fellowship Hall. Please stop by and meet our friendly mission trip participants who will be tending the table.

On Thursday, January 30th a special meeting of the new RI Association UCC (formerly the RI Conference UCC) will take place here at Barrington Congregational Church, UCC.


  • 6 – 6:30 pm – Apple Pie and Fellowship in the Vestry
  • 6:30 – 8 pm – Worship and Association Meeting in the Sanctuary

The Agenda for this meeting will include approval of the 2020 Budget for the Rhode Island Association.

January 26 | Saying Goodbye to Brendan

Brendan’s final day at BCCUCC will be Sunday, January 26th. Please plan to join us that day! There will be a special coffee hour (following the budget meeting) when we’ll say farewell to Brendan and thank him for his 5½ years of ministry with us. Please plan to be there!

Please note: The budget meeting isn’t expected to take very long, so we do hope everyone will stay for the coffee hour afterward to say goodbye to Brendan and Dan.

Prison populations have increased by 700% in the past half-century. That, along with the privatization of prisons have turned incarceration into big business. Additionally, incarceration rates for black males is more than three times the percentage of black males in society. What does all this mean for America today? What does our faith as Christians call us to do when we come across such staggering statistics?

The East Bay Kids Clothes Swap is a place to trade in clean (non-stained) clothes and shoes, and get clothes the next size up! Ages newborn to 12 years old. Give what you can, take what you need! It’s a great community resource, a place for parents and kids to meet up, and a way to reduce waste. It will be located here in Fellowship Hall of Barrington Congregational Church, UCC and will take place every 3rd Saturday of the month, from 9:30 am-11:30 am.
