by Linda Hartley, Assoc. Minister (Designated Term)          –          February 6, 2020

I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of you after worship this past week, however briefly that may have been. I’m looking forward to getting to know more of you and having longer conversations as the weeks progress. As some of you already know, I am a member of the Rhode Island Association of the United Church of Christ and was approved for ordination pending call by our Association in June of 2018. I’ve preached and led worship in several churches in Rhode Island especially during summers when I’ve filled in for vacationing pastors. Most recently, I was the Bridge Interim Pastor for the Norwich Congregational Church in Vermont. I’m happy to now be part of the ministry team here at Barrington and I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities particular to youth ministry.

With regard to youth ministry here at Barrington, we have a Confirmation Retreat coming up very soon at the Craigville Retreat Center in Barnstable on Cape Cod. This is an opportunity for our Confirmands to explore their faith in the company of other Confirmands from various UCC churches in Massachusetts. This retreat is a tradition at Barrington and we’re looking forward to continuing this important opportunity for reflection and community for our Confirmands. As the year continues, there will be additional opportunities for our Confirmands to participate in the life of our church during the Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services, our Lenten programming, and Confirmation Sunday. I’m looking forward to this busy and exciting time in the life of our church.
