Construction Photos - Page 1
On Monday, July 30, 2007, work began on the
construction of a new interior stairwell from the front (river end) of
the Sanctuary down to the lower level. Due to complications with
the foundation work that caused an earlier than expected removal of the
fire escape, the sanctuary can't be used until the new staircase has
been installed.
As a result, worship will take place in Fellowship Hall for the next
several weeks. We apologize for any inconvenience and
thank you for your patience and understanding.
We will keep
you up to date with the progress of the construction by posting
photographs on this and subsequent pages.

First came the
dumpster...... |
....then came the fencing to close off the work
area. |

Day 2 and the wall between the
music office and the vestry kitchen has already been opened up. In
addition a hole has been cut in the ceiling from the music office up
through the floor of the old sacristy to make way for the new stairwell. |

The front of the church is
temporarily draped in plastic as the work begins. It will be
removed each week for Sunday worship!

A small hole is cut from the
sanctuary below the level of the sacristy floor through to the music
office. A temporary enclosure will be built around the area before
the rest of the hole for the door is cut through (to keep dust and
debris from getting into the sanctuary). |

The old fire escape doors have been removed, half
of the fire escape taken down, and one of the doors and the window from
the music office have been resided. A new doorway has been cut in
the middle of the back wall. |

Foundation
work in progress. Some of the old foundation is removed and the
back wall is shored up. The remaining half of the fire escape has been
removed and the hole from the old fire escape door resided.

to form a new larger closet. (The door to

closet, a new floor has been framed in where the old staircase used to
be. The room above will be the new sacristy (on the opposite
side of the altar to the old sacristy). |
