In the late afternoon of
Tuesday, May 20, 2008, the bushes in front of the education building
suddenly burst into flames! A carelessly tossed cigarette from a
passing car was thought to have been the cause. The fire
department was immediately called and they extinguished the fire - but
not until a number of bushes had been burned and the tree nearby was
scorched. Fortunately, there were no cars in the adjacent parking
spaces at the time! The resulting damage can be seen in these
photos. The burnt bushes have since been removed and it is hoped
to
eventually replace them. We're hoping the tree will recover on its
own.
Unlike in the story of Moses and
the Burning Bush, the BCCUCC bushes were definitely burnt as the photos
below show.
